Our focus is to advocate for the civil and human rights of LGBTQ individuals. The Akron NAACP will explore priorities that include a strong yet diverse representation while creating dialogue to explore various topics.

The Black LGBTQ Community

The Akron NAACP will explore and brainstorm solutions to issues in the Black LGBTQ community, including:

  • Barriers and stigma

  • Lack of acceptance and inclusion

  • Low representation in the community

  • Lack of understanding of LGBTQ rights and laws

Effective change is dependent on the active participation of all citizens, and Black LGBTQ voices are important to build and sustain a stronger Akron area.
